You Can Make a Difference

2011 has been a tough year for my family.  Emotionally draining and exhausting, and that’s part of the reason my posts have been so few and far between.  But I couldn’t let this opportunity pass me by, so here I am!

Most of you probably know that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Breast Cancer is such a prevalent disease that it’s unusual for anyone to not be affected by it.  Even so, it was one of those things that was always in the background for me – it happened to other people’s families.  I’ve been affected by breast cancer before – I’ve had friends or their family members be diagnosed; I’ve even had family members down the line fight the disease, but it’s never been quite as close as it has this year.

Very recently, one of my aunts was diagnosed with stage 2 Breast Cancer.  She’s the youngest of four girls, mom of three and awaiting the arrival of her very first grandson next month.

My aunt has started her treatments, has picked out her wig (it looks great), and has a strong support system in place.  With all of my heart, right down to my toes, I know she will beat this.  But I also know that I want to help stop this disease from affecting others in any way that I can.

That’s why, for the entire month of October, any session that you book (you just have to book it – you don’t have to hold the session in October. You can save it for next month, or next spring!) from October 1-31, 100% of the session fee will be donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. With only seven sessions booked, that’s over $1000 that can be donated to this worthy cause!

So, what could be better? You get a session with your family, your kids, your newborn baby, or your growing belly and you get to help stop a disease that affects way too many people.

Call (847-970-8055) or email (info@essenceportraits.com) today to schedule your session.

Until next time,

Graceyn {Twin Lakes Newborn Photography}

I love, love, love when I get a call-back from a previous client.  For one thing, it tells me that they enjoyed my work enough to want to welcome me into their homes again! There’s no greater compliment than that.  For another, and the reason that I love the most: I get to see how their child(ren) have grown.

Jessica and Shane welcomed a beautiful baby boy into the world, along with big sister Vivian.

Thank you, Jessica & Shane, for trusting me to capture your little ones again!

Until next time,
Brianne

Beautiful Belly

Holidays, snow storms and snow days (remember when you used to be excited about these?!?) are now behind us.  What better way to ring in the new year on the blog and catch up from sessions-past than with a belly full of baby?

I met this family a couple of years ago when their oldest was just six months old.  You might recognize him with those eyes.  Those baby-blues are stunners, and haven’t changed at all since I photographed him on the beach when he was just a baby.

Next up? Brand new babies.

Until next time,

Brianne

Barns & Babies

Alright, alright – pick your jaws up off the ground. I told you I was going to be updating more!!  Before we get caught up with the past year’s sessions, I wanted to post this as a little peek for Mom before her gallery goes up.

This precious lil’ baby was my last session of 2010.  When we did Mom’s maternity, it was a beautiful day outside, and I fell in love with the landscape immediately.

I had dreams (yes, I really dreamt about it) of the baby out by the barn, with the soft skin against the rustic background.  Yeah, well, Mother Nature completely squashed my dreams and made it cold and snowy and cold.  Did I mention cold? *sigh* Regardless, even without the rustic barn, this baby was beautiful all snuggled up in soft blankets and wraps.

Cheryl, I hope you enjoyed that little sneak peek of your beautiful baby girl! She was such a good little subject, even if she was awake for more than half the session!

Until next time,
Brianne

Being Six

Have the cows come home? Are pigs flying? Has hell frozen over?  Apparently, because you see right.  This is an actual, real live blog post.  I know; I’m shocked, too!  So, you’re probably asking yourself what in the world is going on, right?

Here’s the sitch: I’ve been a bad, bad blogger.  And I said to myself, “Self, what will make you blog again?”  And, of course, my answer was, “A brand spankin’ new and pretty blog should do it!” So, six months of researching and two months of designing & preparing…and here we are. With a brand spankin’ new and pretty blog.  That I plan (read: hope) to update with frequency.  Of course, I say that right before I have my yearly time off, but I plan to play catch up with sessions that have taken place earlier this year and show you a little bit about what I’ve been up to for the last eighteen months (yes, it’s really been that long since I’ve blogged).

Which leads me to the main reason for this post!  This wasn’t the first time I’ve photographed this family, and this session was just as fun as the last one.  One thing I love about working with this family is that the little boy is within days of Blake’s age, so I just know exactly what to talk to him about.  He was into adventures, and boy did I send him on one.  Lots of different areas to explore here, and he had a blast.

Thank you to the “G” family for trusting me with their family memories once again.  It was a pleasure, as always, to capture them for you!

Please make sure to bookmark this as my new and permanent blog site. You can also subscribe (right up there when you click on the handy-dandy subscribe button) to get updates sent right to your e-mail whenever there’s a new blog post!

Here’s hoping the Christmas season isn’t making you crazy, and I actually find time in the madness to update again shortly.

Until next time,
Brianne
